No Access (2020)
‘No Access’ responds to a paused construction site during the coronavirus lockdown, capturing a space held in suspension.
Working within a site that would be soon repurposed, Edwards introduced temporary land-based temporary interventions using displaced materials found on location. These gestures respond directly to the environment, occupying a space on the verge of transformation.
The work explores the balance between control and chance, with some elements deliberately left to settle or fall into place. Photography functions as both record and evidence, preserving these transient configurations within a site that no longer exists in the same form.
In order of (1-3); ‘To Pass Time’, ‘Inspired by Barbara Hepworth’s Sculptural Gardens’ and ‘No Access’.
